Mother Blessing Ceremony

A Mother Blessing honors the biggest initiation in a woman’s life. This is a ceremony of pampering, adorning and showering the mother-to-be with love and support. It’s essentially a more nourishing baby-shower!

These tender and unforgettable moments encourage mothers to birth with less fear and feel better supported in the postpartum period. I believe that every rite-of-passage has some degree of difficulty, but it’s the way we honor the challenge that can turn difficulty into empowerment.

I must acknowledge that this ceremony was inspired from the traditional Dine Navajo ritual called a “Blessing Way”. I am grateful for their wisdom and hold this ritual with the utmost respect.

“We all come from Mother. We all return to Mother Earth.
When we honor the mother, we honor everything that is”.

 FAQs

  • The goal is to have you feeling loved, pampered and refreshed. Each one is catered to what you want. But typically you can enjoy a light oil massage, belly painting, activities to build confidence with labor, storytelling, fear burning, and ceremonial rituals.

  • You deserve to relax and accept this love. For many, this is the most memorable day of their entire pregnancy. Too many women enter motherhood feeling alone. This ceremony aims to foster a sense of community around your experience.

  • This is up to you, although I recommend keeping the ceremony more intimate. I have had women who invited a handful of their closest friends and I’ve also had women who prefer to only have 1-2 close family members such as their mother and partner attend.

  • Nope! This is a ceremony to celebrate anyone who is pregnant regardless of age, gender or previous children.

  • Nope! Anyone can hire me to host this ceremony regardless of if I am your doula.

  • I plan and set up the entire thing! You just answer some questions to help me cater the experience to you (and your group) and show up!

  • I can and will take some photos on my phone! If having great pics is something you value, I have an option to partner with a local photographer to capture your special day with an upgraded fee.

  • In the summer I often like to do it at a public park or in nature somewhere. In the winter it’s cozy to do it inside you/ someone you know’s living room!
